Steel Framing – Termosteel

Bituminous membrane

Bituminous membranes are manufactured with polymerized asphalt structured in highly resistant polyethylene, which provides higher waterproofing capacity, flexibility, and adherence.

Commonly used as roof cladding, the bituminous membranes are highly compatible with Steel Framing.

With a guaranteed lifespan of more than 10 years, this material serves as a waterproof covering against the damage caused by water, creating a watertight layer that keeps the elements out.

The bituminous membranes come in rolls of layers: the reinforcement layer, the anti-adherent layer, and the cladding layer, which protects and waterproof the material’s top cover when applied in a criss-cross manner.

Please consider the following factors before using the bituminous membrane:

  • Roof dimensions
  • Slope
  • Temperature bands
  • Weather conditions

Following an analysis of these factors, choose one of the three ways you can install your bituminous membrane:

Floating: the membrane edges are heated (welded) to fix them firmly to the roof surface.

Semi-floating: the membrane edges and some stripes are fixed with welding.

Adhered: the membrane is fixed to the surface with a welding torch. This process may take 48-72 hours for every 400 m² approximately.
